Take your first steps into the creative & exciting world of printmaking! You will learn the fundamentals of printmaking: monotype, linoleum cut, and drypoint. If you’re a painter, you’ll find the use of color mixing in the printing process exciting, too! Upon completing Printmaking I, attendees will have the foundational knowledge to take our intermediate Printmaking II or Monotype workshop.

This workshop is perfect for people who are curious about printmaking or who want to refresh their knowledge if they have previous experience. This small interactive workshop guarantees you plenty of time with the instructor. Join us!

We are ready to help you take the next step in your printmaking practice! LINOLEUM REDUCTION PRINTMAKING

Join Janet as she instructs you in the techniques of making an edition of multi-colored original block prints. In reduction printmaking, you work from the same linoleum block: for each color, you will have a different cut into the block. Jnaet will help you determine the succession of cutting in correlation to the colors of your image. You will be working with a 6 x 8" block, printing with an etching press, and making an edition of 6 prints.
No prior printmaking experience necessary. Material fee TBD.

PRINTMAKING III
FOCUS ON COLOR

This 6-week workshop is geared toward people who took Printmaking II with us or have previous printmaking experience and want to hone their personal interests. Experimentation with ink modifiers, mark-making methods, and color theory will be central to this workshop. Exercises in color mixing and layering will be worked into the projects. If you have work and sketches, you are encouraged to bring them. This workshop is limited to 4 participants, so you are guaranteed plenty of time with the instructor. All materials are provided.

MONOTYPE

This intermediate monotype workshop will provide a space and structure for artists to explore and expand their creative practice. Expect to create a minimum of 10 prints as you challenge yourself through experimentation and working in a series. You will learn how to work with multiple plates and how to effectively register them. Experimentation will include areas of ink modifiers, ghost prints, composition, and color. Participants are encouraged to bring ideas and concepts they are currently working on to develop and shift them through the media and techniques (not required).

Some previous experience in printmaking is essential for this class.

Spend this fun weekend with us and leave more confident in your artistic journey. This workshop has a maximum of 4 people, so there is ample time to work with the instructor.

SMALL EDITION PRINTMAKING

This multidisciplinary workshop combines edition printmaking with bookmaking. You will learn how to make linocuts, rubber stamps and collagraphs to illustrate a poem (yours or one of your choosing.) Printing will be done by hand-printed and via an etching press. Completed prints will be assembled into an innovative book structure called the Australian Reverse Piano Hinge binding. The workshop is open to all interested; printers, bookmakers, and those curious to experiment with text and images. You will come away with sweet edition of 4 books measuring 6 x 4 x .25".
All supplies are included.
